To Whom Much Is Given

Luke chapters 10-12 contain some of the best known verses and events in the New Testament. Examples such as what many know as the Lord's Prayer(Luke 11:2-4) and the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). However, upon review and study of all 3 chapters, I believe the cornerstone verse is contained in the last sentence of Luke 12:48 when Christ says, "For to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more." We need to constantly reflect on our life as a Christian, keeping this verse in mind. Perhaps at first we can see how our life could or should have been more than what we see to this point. However, Christ always saw the glass as half full rather than half empty. We have been given the hope of eternal life. Who could ask for more? This hope is what we can get others to see through our example, our love and acts of kindness for other people and more importantly the Spirit that guides us is what we are put here on this earth to accomplish. Sure there will always be people who have "more things" than we possess. The challenge for each of us is to see things through Christ's eyes and his vision for our life. Only then can we find the peace and contentment that leads to a rich and full life.
